Some Enchanted Evening
Just in time for summer a new favorite has arrived, the evening skirt. It’s a look that iconic designer Bill Blass, designer extraordinaire, made famous. It perfectly fit the lifestyle of his social ladies who frequently entertained at home and we think it’s an item ripe for revival, what with our penchant for a more casual lifestyle, from day to evening.
We like the evening skirt best brightly colored and paired with a more casual top – a sweater, a tailored shirt, – which is how Blass styled the look. We think this mixing of casual and dressy is perfect for today and works for jewelry, too. We love the look of brightly colored gemstone drop earrings and a cocktail ring, gold or silver cuff bracelets worn doublet style and long station chain necklaces in silver or gold.
From Balmain’s ice blue button front skirt worn with a white boat neck tee, to Jason Wu’s shocking pink tiered version to Bluegirl’s Kelly green wrap style, the evening skirt is an item whose time has come. It’s one to bank on all year round.
