Color and pattern come together for Spring 2015 in unexpected combinations. A dynamic duo, this modern pair takes a little from ‘60s shapes and a little from ‘70s color mixes. Rainbow brights and kaleidoscope prints collide, often grounded with black or white. This trend was evident at both modernist designers and more classic houses, perhaps taking some cues from MOMA’s Matisse Exhibit – The Cut Outs. Spare minimalist shapes – shifts, structured jackets and sweaters – are refreshed with bold graphic pattern including oversized zig zags to bold stripes, in unexpected colorations and fabrications.

While you may not choose to wear the look head to toe, color and pattern are instant spring updates and, an element of the trend – a sweater, a coat, a piece of jewelry or a handbag – will put all on notice that there’s a new girl in town this spring and she’s going bold.
