Designers are giving prints a modern edge for spring, offering bold graphic and menswear prints and providing an unexpected punch to spring’s offerings. The season’s graphics are frequently turned out in classic black or white and are shown in tandem with one or both of the classic shades. This spring designers are also pairing graphic patterns with pretty pastels or rich darks such as navy, brown or burgundy for a bold new approach offering reticent customers a new rational for the purchase.
Case in point, Dior’s modern black and white windowpane check jacket with a pink chiffon skirt or Derek Lam’s pairing of both menswear and geometric patterns in his white blazer, pastel blue gingham shirt and black, gray and white leather pencil skirt.
At Marni, designer Consulo Castiglioni took a new tack feminizing menswear pattern, houndstooth in a structured medium blue bell shaped dress.
Make a statement with accessories that add to the pattern mix – in handbags, scarves, footwear or jewelry – circles, squares, checks and diamond motifs that pump up the pattern mix.
All look effortless, all totally modern, all perfect for Spring.
