BAMBA : With her artistic aesthetic, globetrotting designer Linda Hagobian creates this long exotic eye-catching necklace. She takes dark, rich ebony wood from Mali, West Africa and juxtaposes it with stunning pristine turquoise, which is unearthed from Arizona’s Sleeping Beauty mine. Working with a team of master Italian craftsmen, each piece is combined using ultra-soft suede leather bands and silver links. Although this statement piece will garner tons of attention, its light weight makes it practical for everyday wear.
Linda uses turquoise, ebony, diamonds, Italian-crafted 18-karat gold, and sterling silver findings in all of her pieces. While she crafts the designs, it takes a global village to assemble Hagobian's pieces, from the artisans in Italy who painstakingly make sure each graduated piece of turquoise is of the right size and color and perfectly strung, to the 42 African men and women who carve the ebony into precise shapes. As a sign of gratitude, the company donates part of the proceeds of the collection to Dogon Schulen, which builds schools in Mali, West Africa.
